Old Blighty
The Joondalup Festival of Motoring will capture all corners of the automotive globe.
The Automotive World will highlight 5 precincts that will showcase automotive and engineering brilliance thought-out the decades. Over the coming weeks we are announcing our regions for the display areas.
First up, OLD BLIGHTY.
Tag your mates with Mini Coopers… Don’t forget your rich uncle with the Roller, or is there a spy in the family that drives an Aston Martin?
We want all things British to join us at this year’s Joondalup Festival of Motoring!
According to Wikipedia, “Blighty” is a British English slang term for Great Britain, or often specifically England. Though it was used throughout the 1800s in India to mean an English or British visitor, it was first used during the Boer War in the specific meaning of homeland for the English or British, and it was not until World War I that use of the term became widespread.
The term is commonly used as a term of endearment by the expatriate British community or those on holiday to refer to home.
