Tyrepower Join 2023 Joondalup Festival of Motoring

18 August 2023

MEDIA RELEASE

Tyrepower and the City of Joondalup are the driving force behind the 2023 Joondalup Festival of Motoring

The 2023 Tyrepower Joondalup Festival of Motoring was launched today by representatives of the event’s two primary sponsors, Tyrepower (naming rights partner) and the City of Joondalup (host city).

The free family-friendly event will take place on 24-26 November, transforming the Joondalup CBD into a vibrant festival that celebrates the automobile’s design, function and culture in a way that you don’t have to be a lifelong car enthusiast to appreciate.

With inspiration drawn from some of the major motoring festivals worldwide, the Joondalup Festival of Motoring is a car culture experience that complements a motorsport main event. The varied line-up of activities includes entertainers, activations, food vans and bars, music and movies.

Last year’s festival filled the precinct with 1,000 static display vehicles, 150 motorsport competitors, and Event Director Justin Hunt says he plans to build upon the impressive foundation that was laid in year one.

“We’re thrilled to bring all of motoring culture’s fun, glamour and adrenaline back to the Joondalup CBD later this year, and would like to thank our competitors, officials and sponsors for being a valuable element in bringing this event to the community,” Justin said.

“The festival is fortunate to have attracted a suite of sponsors who support our vision to build the Tyrepower Joondalup Festival of Motoring into an iconic event on the Australian motoring calendar.”

Australia’s biggest independent tyre group, Tyrepower, sponsored the event in its first year, and event organisers are thrilled to see their enthusiasm for the festival fuel their commitment to becoming naming right’s sponsor.

Tyrepower General Manager Dale Klompmaker said the group was thrilled to come on board as a sponsor for the second year running.

“We’re excited to again be part of the Joondalup Motoring Festival; we had such a great time last year and saw a fantastic community response, so it’s a win for everyone to be able to help bring it back in 2023,” Dale said.

“Being a local independent, we’re part of the local community, dedicated to the WA motoring community, so this is a real feather in our cap to have naming rights to such a popular and community building event.

“This is a world-class festival, filled with something for everyone, from car enthusiasts to daily drivers, it’s great family fun, so I’d encourage everyone to put it on their calendars, because it’s an event not to be missed!”

The City of Joondalup, with its historical links to motorsport, thriving local community, accessibility and modern facilities, provide the ideal backdrop to the festival.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said lap two of the 2023 Joondalup Festival of Motoring would build on the success of the inaugural three-day event.

“Shortly after Joondalup became a City in its own right in 1998, our City Centre hosted a classic car motorsport event. 25 years on, in our anniversary year, we’ll be doing it all again,” he said.

“Last year’s festival was a big success, attracting thousands to our City Centre.

“Earlier this year, our Council gave the festival the green light to go ahead in 2023. Justin Hunt and his team are building on last year’s experience so that this family-friendly motorsport extravaganza is even bigger and better.

“The 2023 Tyrepower Joondalup Festival of Motoring will only enhance our City’s reputation as the ‘events capital’ of the north.”

Entries to Sunday’s Joondalup City Sprint are now open to last year’s competitors and will open to the greater public on the 31st August. The supplementary regulations and entry form is available from https://jfom.com.au/competitors/
